"Hi, I am really looking forward to getting to know you and working together to achieve your therapy goals. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy, recognising that the psychological and physical both impact overall mental well-being and as such my approach to therapy includes elements of each in order to achieve lasting change.
I have always believed that no one knows you better than you and while I will guide you along your journey, making and maintaining changes is up to you, you are the author of your story. I thus recognise the importance of a client centred approach where we work together toward change and symptom management.
I look forward to helping you work through life’s challenges and develop resilience for the future".
Elise has 7+ years experience working as a psychologist and has completed a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) and a Graduate Diploma of Psychological Science. Client Information & FAQ's
_____
How long does each consultation take?
Each session will last a total of 50 minutes. If you are late to a session you will still be charged the full cost of the session. We therefore recommend you endeavour to be on time.
What are your payment options?
Initial consultations may be charged via credit/debit card at the time of your session. Future sessions can be paid via credit/debit card at the time of your appointment or via direct debit/Bank transfer upon receipt of an invoice from Eden Heights Psychology and are payable within 5 days of the invoice being issued. Please note, your next session may not go ahead if there are any outstanding payments .
Why is the initial consultation not bulk billed?
We provide the initial consultation at a reduced cost however do not allow this appointment to be bulk billed unless you already have a Mental Health Treatment Plan and request for the initial consultation to be one of your two bulk billed appointments. The initial consultation is largely information gathering and assessment and as such includes limited therapeutic content. Given that clients are only permitted 10 Medicare Rebated sessions per year, we recommend taking advantage of the reduced fee for the initial consultation rather than having it as one of your bulk billed sessions. We want you to get the most ‘bang for your buck’.
Not that we're complaining but why is the initial consultation fee lower than the full fee and the first two sessions bulk billed?
We keep the out of pocket expenses for the first 3 appointments as low as possible in order to give you time to determine if our service/the clinician is a good fit for you, before parting with too much of your hard earned $$$. We understand that not every client and clinician are the right fit. This way there is minimal financial strain whilst assessing said fit.
What if my issues aren't listed under the clinicians skills?
If your presenting issues are not listed in the clinicians blurb this does not necessarily mean that we cannot help you. The clinicians blurb is just a short introduction and not an exhaustive list of their experiences or capabilities. The initial consultation will help determine the suitability of our service to your needs. Alternatively you can email a list of diagnoses or presenting issues for our clinician to review prior to booking an appointment.
After the initial consult what happens if the clinician cannot provide service for my needs ?
Following the initial consultation, If it is determined that we are unable to provide adequate therapeutic support, based on your presenting issues, we will provide a list of other services.
I feel like I've tried so many psychologists and nothing works, should I just give up?
What happens if the internet and/or phone lines fail and will I be charged?
While we make every effort to reduce the risks of this happening by having access to satellite internet and back up mobile cellular data from two carriers, Telehealth services are not infallible, occasionally circumstances do occur where one or both of these modes fails, be it due to computer glitches, poor signal on either end (clinician or client), and/or natural phenomenon such as severe storms. We do encourage anyone engaging in Telehealth services to ensure that on their end they have good internet connection and/or cell service. If one mode fails, our clinician will attempt to contact you via other means, for example, if you are in the middle of a zoom session and it cuts out and won't reconnect the clinician will attempt to contact you via phone to continue the session. Should you not answer and/or we are unable to get in touch in a prompt manner, we will contact you as soon as we are able to organise rescheduling or reimbursement. Please note, any sessions that reach 30+ minutes prior to any technical failures will not be provided a full refund - A second short make up session or partial refund will be offered in these cases.
What if I am late for my session?
If you are running late for your session please contact Eden Heights Psychology via email at info@ehpsychology.com or call/text 0404 567 656 and leave a short message. The clinician may be in session and therefore not answer the phone when you call but will check their messages if you have not shown up to the appointment on time. If you are 20+ minutes late to your appointment you will be marked as did not attend and the late cancellation/no show fee of $55 will apply. If you arrive to your appointment within the first 20 minutes you will be allowed to continue with the session however no discount will be provided for the lost time. The clinician may be able to make up some of the lost time at the end of the session however this cannot be guaranteed as they often have back to back bookings.
Can I use a private health fund to cover some of the costs of my sessions?
At this stage Eden Heights Psychology does not provide rebates through private health funds. We are hoping to do so in the future but currently are only supporting Medicare claims. Please note that even if we were providing rebates through private health funds, you can only use one or the other, private health or Medicare, not both in one transaction.
Do you offer behavioural and cognitive assessments?
Whilst our clinician has experience administering behavioural and cognitive assessments, this is not something we at Eden Heights Psychology currently offer.
How do I get a Mental Health Treatment Plan and what are the benefits?
Following the initial consultation, if you don't already have one, our clinician will recommend that you see a GP in order to get a Mental Health Treatment Plan. When booking an appointment with the GP make sure to let them know that you are wanting a MHTP as you may require a longer appointment for such. Having a MHTP means you are eligible for rebates through Medicare. A copy of the MHTP must be provided to Eden Heights Psychology before any rebates or claims can be provided/made. An initial MHTP consists of 6 sessions. You are permitted 10 Medicare sessions per year so after the initial 6, if it is determined you would benefit from the full 10, you will need to return to your GP for a review at which time they will provide you with a referral for a further 4 sessions.
What information will be shared with my GP?
After sessions 6 and 10 updates will be provided to your GP. These updates are brief summaries of the work conducted in session and your progress towards achieving therapy goals. This information is sufficient enough in detail to let the GP know how you are progressing without disclosing any sensitive information. The clinician will discuss disclosures with you in further detail at the initial consultation.
